1100HP Diesel Chevy C-10 Shortbed Takes on Drag Week

September 17th, 2021

As the Mecca of drag racing enthusiasts, Hot Rod Drag Week attracts some of the most capable straight-line machines in the world. This video focuses on some of those vehicles.

Day 4 of Drag Week finds us looking at a diesel powered 1980 Chevrolet C-10 shortbed pickup with a pair of small turbochargers. This truck is rolling coal like it’s going out of style and leaving a ton of rubber on the track during his burnouts. The sawed-off truck cuts a clean light and totes the front out past the tree. He leaves a thick cloud of black smoke behind on his way to a 9.62 @ 136.65 mph.

In other action, a blue Chevrolet C4 Corvette (naturally aspirated) hooks up hard and comes out of the hole straight, posting a pass of 8.91 @ 149.88 mph.

A souped-up Buick Roadmaster Wagon, with a turbocharged LS 408 mated to a T-56 manual gearbox, runs a 13.4-second pass but the owner feels like he has a 12 in him. We’ll see.

There are dozens more great races on this video.
