The rear-wheel drive C8 is the first Corvette with a mid-engine platform. This engine position yields certain performance advantages as it pertains to weight distribution and torque application. Equipped with an all-aluminum 6.2-liter V8 engine that can produce 495hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, the C8 comes with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This latest version of the Corvette Stingray can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8-seconds and make quick work of the quarter-mile in 11.2-seconds @ 122 mph. Top speed for the C8 is 184 mph (computer controlled).
Not to be overlooked, the BMW M4 Competition features all-wheel drive and a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder motor capable of churning out 503hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. With the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8-seconds, it comes as no surprise that the M4 Comp can turn the quarter-mile in 11.0-seconds @ 125 mph. Top speed is 180 mph and the transmission is an 8-speed automatic.
This should be a great race. Let’s get to it.
