Street Car Takeover Denver – 8-Second Classic Chevy C-10

Welcome drag racing fans to Denver for some Mile-High drag racing action in the Drag Truck Class at Street Car Takeover. Old school and new school clash in this clip that sees turbocharged pickups against supercharged SUVs and naturally aspirated classics against blown nitrous bruisers – and don’t forget the diesels. Climb in, buckle up and hang on!

The first truck to catch our cameraman’s eye is a canary yellow 1971 Chevrolet C-10. Under the hood of this brilliant Chevy is a 7.0-liter LSx V8 engine with a pair of Precision turbochargers. This truck is capable of producing 1,100hp and has run the quarter mile in the high eights. Let’s see what he has got today.

Next, there is a beautiful blue 1954 GMC 100 Deluxe. It is equipped with a blown small block Chevy motor with nitrous. This truck is magnificently built on a custom racing chassis. A combination of drag truck and show truck, this entry alone is well worth the price of admission.

Then there is a 2001 Silverado 1500 with a JYD 5.3-liter and a Borg Warner 76-millimeter turbo. This is a four-wheel drive pickup that has posted a 9.59-second quarter mile @ 140 mph.

We have to mention the 1944 Ford Pickup with a naturally aspirated 480 cubic-inch engine and a Powerglide transmission. This truck turns consistent 8-second elapsed times at 150-160 mph.

All these trucks – and many, many more – are on hand at this event from Bandimere Speedway in Denver.
