Cobra Jet Mustang World Record Pass – 7.3L Godzilla

Greetings fellow gearheads and welcome to U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan for some hot drag racing action. Featured in this clip is the Cobra Jet Mustang of Paul Svinicki. In the Great Lakes area, Paul’s High Performance in Jackson, Michigan is synonymous with Ford performance.

Most drag racers will favor this setup. Paul has stabbed a big truck motor into a rear-wheel drive coupe. It makes for some fast elapsed times and a whole lot of fun. He has added a sizeable shot of nitrous to make things even more interesting.

At the heart of this record setting beast is a 7.3-liter Godzilla crate motor from Ford Performance. Designed for use in F-250 and F-350 truck applications, Godzilla utilizes an overhead valve cast iron block with aluminum cylinder heads and a forged crankshaft. Right out of the box, this big V8 can generate 430hp and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. Paul adds a 200hp shot of nitrous to get him over the hump. The automatic transmission is a GM TH400.

Paul is hoping to reset the quarter-mile World Record for lowest elapsed time from a Godzilla powered Mustang. Let’s go to the video and see if he is successful.
