American Muscle Triple Play – Camaro ZL1 vs. Hellcat vs. Blown Mustang

The British are lining up the best that Detroit has to offer for a standing quarter-mile drag race. What we have are three of the baddest steeds ever produced in the U.S. and they are set to let it all hang out for ultimate bragging rights. Here’s a look at the scrap iron.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is loaded with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 capable of making 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque (in stock trim). As the flagship of the Camaro lineup, the ZL1 is a serious beast. The car featured in this clip has a 10-speed automatic transmission and it has been tuned for performance. Adjusted maximum output is estimated to be 770hp. That’s a whole lot of a good thing.

The Ford Mustang is a 5.0-liter V8 engine enhanced with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. Unlike the Camaro, this Mustang comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. With an estimated maximum output of 860hp, that could make for a rough day at the office for any driver.

The most powerful production car in the U.S., the Dodge Challenger Hellcat can muster 808hp in factory condition. Under the bonnet is a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Hellcat is also the heaviest car in the show at a GVWR of nearly two tons.

Buckle up and hold on to your hat. It’s about to get raw.
