This fits the black metal aftermarket made in China Meyle steering rack tube shown in the main picture. Does not fit USA Rabbit GTI with the aluminum rack or oem rack. Does fit aftermarket replacement racks commonly supplied by Meyle. Notice the black part of the tube is smooth with no rib to hold the bushing in place, this is an aftermarket rack. Installation spacer bushing is included, you will use the rack itself to install the bushing, then remove the spacer. No need to remove the old bushing, it will just stay there. This will fit mark 1 racks.Volkswagen Rabbit truck, Rabbit diesel, Rabbit Gti 80-82, 80-84 Jetta gli, 77-88 Scirocco and Cabriolet 80-93 with manual black steel tube racks that DO NOT have a detent rib. This custom made bushing will remove ALL of the play in the rack rod that is sometimes mistaken for the inner tierod end being bad. These racks come from the factory with play in the rack gear, this will remove the side movement. Not available anywhere else, custom made. Check yours, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, if you can move the rack rod on the right forward and back? This new bushing is not available as a separate part from anyone else. Save having to replace your rack. Tighten up that aftermarket rack. Installation requires you to detach the tierod from the right side, remove the lock nut, install the bushing, install the spacer, replace the lock nut, turn the steering wheel to the right slowly and the bushing will be pulled in and stop against the existing bushing. Turn back to the left, remove lock nut, remove installation spacer. Re-install your tierod and set your toe. You will receive one bushing to repair the poor quality bushing on the passenger end of the rack. This does not happen to the left end. Rack is for display purposes and is not for sale. You are buying one white delrin bushing only. White is shown for display contrast (it is also the oem bushing), you will receive a black delrin bushing and long installation spacer shown in the last picture.
