The HP of this engine will vary depending on what cam is installed and application it is installed in. In most cases this engine makes between 300 and 375HP depending on application and torque converter stall speed you are running. We can supply you with a higher stall speed torque converter at a additional charge.
We don\'t build engine until we know the following.
What vehicle and transmission you have.
What will you be doing with vehicle? Cruising? Daily driver 4 wheeling?
Do you want a rough or smooth idle? A higher stall speed is recommended if you want a more aggressive cam and have A.T. Specific stall speed will vary depending on what cam is used for your application and use.
You need to run pump premium 91 octane fuel.

Balanced rotating assemble includes:
- 4.00\" stroke crank

- Seasoned block that has been vatted, magnafluxed for cracks, thermal cleaned and steelabrated, bored, honed and plateau honed to fit new oversized pistons
- Deck head gasket surface on block to ensure a good long lasting seal
- New hydraulic cam to match your application and use
- Installed on this engine is the famous Australian 2V closed chamber cast iron heads. They are casting #ARDIAE and have the \"closed chamber\" design of the early 4 barrel Cleveland heads but with the 2 barrel port sizes.
- Heads have been vatted, glassbeaded/steelabrated and magnaflux checked
- 3-angle valve job
- Both heads resurfaced for a good head gasket seal
- 60cc \"quench\" chambers vs the American 75cc open chamber head to boost compression. Because of the quench chamber design the aussie head boosts compression and does not allow gases to get trapped in the corner of chamber causing engine to ping like the american open chamber head.
- These heads have been used in the place of the American heads to increase compression and maintain low-end performance and boost all-around power
- These heads do not have smog passages
- Will work with stock 2 barrel exhaust manifolds or headers
- Deck surface casted thicker than American heads
- New Valve guides and hardened exhaust seats installed for use with unleaded premium fuel
- Assembled with all New 2.040\"Int/1.660\"Exh valves with single keeper grooves. The single groove is stronger than the original multi groove design.
- New High 1.440\" performance valve springs setup to match cam
- New Heavy duty double row timing set
- New Melling Oil pump
- New Brass expansion plugs
- New Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold
- This engine works best with a Holley carb (not included). Carb size will vary depending on what application and use.
- All parts are painted separately before assembly for that show quality look
This engine comes completely assembled with front sump oil pan, timing cover, harmonic balancer, chrome valve covers, and Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold. There is a extra charge for 4x4 oil pan.
This engine is spin tested, oil pressure, compression and etc. tested before shipping.
The back of the 400 block is known as a tall bell housing block. It has the same bolt pattern as the 460 Ford.
