Import vs. Domestic – Twin Turbo GT-R vs. All-Motor 1967 Camaro

This here is the story of the Princess and the Lumberjack. Nope, it ain’t no fairytale. It’s a three race shootout between an imported supercar and a meat-and-potatoes muscle car. Build in the 90s, the Camaro has posted an 8-second quarter-mile, but the Princess GT-R is driven by a professional. Let’s get down to some 1,000-foot dig racing action.

The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro (800hp) is equipped with a massive 540 cubic-inch big block race motor. It is built to the gills and naturally aspirated. This Camaro is running in the Big Tire Class with a giant 32-inch (tall) by 14-inch wide rear slick. The transmission is a 2-speed Powerglide and the Chevy weighs about a ton-and-a-half.

The all-wheel drive Princess Nissan GT-R (1,200hp) is upgraded with a 4.3-liter stroker motor with a set of Garret turbochargers in factory cases. Shifting duties are left to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the Nissan weighs in at 3,800-pounds. To say this car is bright pink is a drastic understatement. It is a purpose-built drag car, but the driver has zero No Prep experience.
