For sale is one rear and one front original equipment Intake Control Module Actuator Rods.Also enclosed are 5 new retainer clips from Dorman. (Dorman part #47099) You will only need four retainer clips to install the control rods, but you will probably break one or drop one into a place where it will never be found, so I am sending 5 clips. The curved rod goes in the back or firewall side, Drivers side on the E350. The straighter rod goes on the front or bumper side of the engine or passenger side on the E350. A good share of the Freestars/E350's that I see have at least one of these clips broken. These individual control rods are not sold by Ford unless you buy the complete IMRC Motor Actuator Control Unit assembly for a minimum of $227.00 in my latest internet search. The Ford part number for the entire actuator is 3F2Z-9J559-BC, in case you want to look it up and buy the entire unit. These control actuators are just a sub assembly of the Ford part listed above and this is what you need.I have included a great YouTube video that shows the issue and how to properly fix the issue. This video shows the clip replacement. If you are here looking at this page you are most likely missing the control arms. This video is taken of a Freestar, but the fix is the same. Do not buy Windestar rods for your Freestar and vice versa. Watch the video, if you are missing the rods on your Freestar this is exactly what you need to fix your vehicle.
The issue with the Freestars’/E350's is that the retainer clips become brittle over time and break with use. The control rods then come loose and either fall down on top of the engine block or are lost on the roadway. So if you lost these, someone probably picked it up in their front tire. Quick note on installation: Install the clips in the servo arms first, then push in these control arms. Believe me, this is the correct process and there is less change of breaking the new clips.
