It fits mark 1 water cooled engine cars Rabbit Gti 80-84, 80-84 Jetta gli, 80-88 Scirocco 16V and Cabriolet 80-87. and 74 to 79 aircooled engine Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type III, 80 to 91 vanagon, This custom made bushing will remove ALL of the play in column when the steering wheel moves up and down. It is not the bearing. Not available anywhere else, custom made. Better than the original it will not smash or distort and the 3D printed version cannot possibly meet the quality of a machined single piece component. Check yours, if you can rock it up and down you have SLOP and it is not the bearing. The original bushing was soft plastic, the replacement was pot metal (see 2nd picture) and is no longer available. Bushing installs from behind the column assembly housing bearing. (see 3rd picture) Often thought that the big bearing has failed, it is only the bushing that is bad or missing. If you have in and out play in your front wheel drive mk1 VW, the bearing at the bottom of the column tube has slipped out, push it back in, install a narrow European hose clamp around the shaft so the head of the clamp keeps it from sliding out again. You also need to check the u-joint bolts, even if they are tight, you may need to tighten them more, look for the joint rocking in the spline. If you have a superbeetle, and the steering wheel moves in and out, the lower steering u-joint is bad, usually from rust causing the needle bearings to bind, break, fall out.
