SAS Failure:
If you are not familiar with the Air InductionPump Or Secondary Exhaust Valve problems on the Gen. 1a and Gen. 2 Tundrasconsider yourself lucky. Although Toyota extended the warranty on the 2nd Gen Tundrasto cover replacement or repair of the system, many are stuck with only 2options to remedy the problem: pay several thousand dollars to replace/repairthe AIP secondary emission system or bypass the system. The SAS system pumpsair into the exhaust on startup to lean out rich cold startup conditions which helpsthe catalytic converters reach operating temperature faster. It does not haveany effect on performance unless the system fails. Two modes of failure arecommon. The air induction pump fails or the exhaust valves get stuck open orclosed.
Ifyou have engine codes P1441, P1442, P1444, P1445,P2440, P2441, P2442, P2443, P2444, P2445, P2446, P2447, this module wasdesigned with you in mind. This module offers a cost effective solution to thefailure prone secondary air emissions systems found on the listed vehicleswithout the need to spend $2000- $4000 dollars to repair or replace the system.Installation of the kit does not require removal of the intake manifold orany emissions equipment. When properly installed this module will bypassthe operation of a faulty secondary air system and allow you to clear the checkengine light and engine trouble codes. If you have an air induction pump thatis failing (not P0418), this module will stop it from running at start up andprevent it from causing trouble codes. Installation of the block off plateswill prevent any stuck valve codes and prevent limp mode. Limp mode isdescribed as a fail safe mode where the vehicle is limited to 50% throttleresponse to protect the engine when there are certain malfunctions. This modulewill also allow the installation of off-road or performance exhaust systemsthat do not have the necessary air injection tubes on the manifold or header toconnect to the system.

The bypass module prevents operationof the air induction system at cold start up. The module is activated for 5seconds when the ignition is first switched \"ON\" or any time itdetects a 4-12V signal on the starter relay coil input. It installs veryneatly and it is easy to make it look like it belongs in the engine compartmentfor that factory look. The module can operate with or without connection tothe starter relay via the included starter relay wire. (discussed further underStarter Relay Wire Section)

2)Pair of Exhaust Port Block-off Plates (4.7L plates pictured )
The exhaust port block-off platesisolate the exhaust valves and pressure sensor from the exhaust to preventtrouble codes to because of leaking or stuck open valves. They should always beinstalled with the bypass kit. Installing them is the only way to preventfuture valve trouble and limp mode.

3) Starter Relay Wire
An option ONLY available on The Original Bypass Module.Unlike the competitor’s module, the starter relay connection allows worry freestarting and avoids accidentally forgetting to start the vehicle as soon as theignition is switched “ON”. Without the starter relay wire connection, waitingto start the vehicle will let the system run and cause trouble codes to comeback on. The starter relay wire ensures the bypass module is retriggered and activelybypassing the system any time the vehicle is started. Just install the kit withthe starter relay wire and forget about it!
