Nowadays, shipping is much more expensive than it was just a year or two ago due to rising fuel costs, inflation, etc. When I list an item, I estimate the shipping weight. Sometimes I'm higher than the actual cost, sometimes I'm low. If the total of your bid plus the shipping cost is too high in your opinion, then by all means don't bid!
