These hubs fit the 1-1/32 inch diameter (26mm), 24 spline outer axle stub. The ID of the hub spline is 31/32 inch (24mm).
NOTE 1: This item DOES NOT FITthe wheel bearings and spindlesoriginally installed on vehicles with the 4XE1 1.6 LITERSOHC (Single Over Head Cam) 12 ValveEngine.
Note 2: This hub is NOT interchangeable with 1987-89 Isuzu I-Mark LS, RS, Turbo, DOHC, Lotus Suspension, Hard Suspension,Chevrolet/Geo SpectrumTurbo, Asuna Sunburst Turbo, Isuzu Gemini JT190. The offset between the bearing shoulder and the rotor mounting surface of the 90-93 DOHC hubis ~.211 inches shallower than the 87-89 Turbo/DOHC hub. It would require significant modification to the brakes and spindles to makethis hub on the earlier model vehicles.
Description
This is one of the last remaining original equipment DOHC Wheel Hubs for these vehicles. We bought up ALL of the remaining warehouse stock of this item. If anyone else is offering this same item, they are most likely intending to have the order drop shipped from the warehouse they formerly resided in. We highly suggest anyone check availability before ordering this item from anyone else. It is possible, but unlikely, that someone has one or two of these in shelf stock. But it is far more likely that they will take the order, discover they can not fill the order, and notify the buyer that they must cancel the order.

This is a wheel bearing hub for the DOHC engine equipped Geo Storm GSi, Isuzu Impulse JI Body, Stylus XS and RSJS Body, Asuna Sunfire, and Gemini JT191.
Thesehubs are a weakpoint on these vehicles, because they are made of untreated 1040/1045alloy steel. (We paid to have the metallurgy report done byPaulo Products in St. Louis, MO.) The shoulder for the outer moisture/dirt seal is induction heat treated, but the shaft that fits into the bearing is NOT heat treated. Theshaft of the hub measures a 22 HRC (Rockwell Hardness), which is about the hardness of annealed 1040 alloy steel. When installed on the vehicle, the hub is press fit into the inner races of a \"sealed\" wheel bearingwhich measures around a 65 HRC (Rockwell Hardness), which is extremely hard. The outer CV Joint slides into the hub and is secured in place by the axle nut torqued to 137 lb.-ft. This places a very soft metal hub shaftagainst a very hard metal bearing race.
When the bearing fails, the bearing race spins against the hub. This shaves just enough metal off of the hubso that it is no longer usable, becauseit is no longer large enough to press fit into a new bearing.
Retorquing accelerates the failure of the bearing. Overtorquing severely reduces the life of the bearing.
Once the inboard half of the hub shaft loses .003-.004 inches of outside diameter, there will not be enough metal left to hold the inner bearing race. If the bottom half of the hub shaft falls through the bearing, it is no longer considered to be usable, because the replacement bearing will fail almost immediately.
The only way to make sure the hub is reusable is to check the front bearings obsessively by raising the front of the car off the ground and checking for play in the front wheel assemblies and replacing the wheel bearings before the play becomes excessive. Once the play is sloppy and the hub is making metal-to-metal contact with the spindle, the hub shaft is almost certainly damaged beyond the point of being usable.
Onone of these carsused forautocross racing (R compound tires, toe out, camber, high cornering forces), front wheel bearings and hubs last about 12-18 months (~90 runs on an autocross course).
Onone of these cars driven on the street sedately (all season tires, zero toe, zero camber), front wheel bearings can failas often as every 24-48 months.
We are in the process of manufacturing a stronger wheel hub for these applications, made of a better steel alloy,which will beheat treated. When these hubs become available, they will be priced at $550+ for each one. This isnoticeably more expensive than OEM, because we are not making them in quantities of 600,000 units, they will be made of higher quality metal that costs more, they will be heat treated, and they will be made in the USA.
These cars have become rare at salvage yards, typically found only by online parts locator, and 375+ miles away. Most salvage yards can not identify if the car is DOHC or SOHC, or simply do not care. Mail ordering used partslike this will get a lot of SOHC spindles and unusable DOHC spindles. Driving cross country in search of an undamaged spindle, can involve ordering in 5+ spindles or 750+ miles of driving from yard to yard to find one usable hub.
This is likely the last chance to obtain one of the OEM hubs.
