CJ LAREDO DRIVER\'S SIDE (LEFT) SEAT COVER
Well,it took over a year to get these NUTMEG CJ Laredo seat covers into limited production. It took quite a bit of time, money and commitment upfront to do the research, get the test samples correct and gather all the other CORRECT materials to make these reproduction seat covers. We took a set of NOS seat covers completely apart, made patterns of every piece of material, and then sourced or had the materials custom made for us. This includes the 3 different types of foam, custom made tan striping material, correct size textured piping, mold resistant and UV resistant thread and vinyl, nutmeg carpet and most important, a person with over 35 years of experience doing custom auto interiors to put it altogether for us. A good auto interior trim shop can reproduce seat covers to a certain degree, BUT I GUARANTEE THEY WILL NOT LOOK AS ORIGINAL LOOKING AS OURS. The custom made materials and highly skilled upholsterer add quite a bit of expense to these reproduction seat covers. These seat covers are made one set at a time and are very labor intensive to produce.
We have been selling them now for a few years and have had a great response to them. We have refined the process and have improved the fit of the seat covers over the initial introduction of them a few years ago. As stated above, these seat covers are made from a NOS pattern, so they are made to fit a NEW OEM seat frame. Depending on the condition of the foam in your 30 + year old seat frames, it may require you to build up the foam a little, especially the driver\'s side bottom cushion. This is simple to do, but we still recommend they be professionally installed.WE HAVE PROVIDED SEVERAL PHOTOS OF NOS NUTMEG FABRIC. ONE PHOTO WITH JEEP\'S OEM SUPPLIER\'S STAMP ON IT FROM 1982. WE HAVE PROVIDED A SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON OF THE 2 FABRICS, THE NOS NUTMEG FABRIC AND OUR CUSTOM MANUFACTURED NUTMEG FABRIC. THE FABRIC IS AN EXACT MATCH WITH RESPECT TO COLOR AND TEXTURE. IT TOOK SEVERAL TEST SAMPLES AND ALMOST A YEAR FOR OUR MANUFACTURE TO GET THIS FABRIC CORRECT. WE ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THIS FABRIC MANUFACTURED IN MINIMUM 50 YARD LOTS, YOU DON\'T START TO SEE THE SAVINGS ON THE MATERIAL UNTIL YOU ORDER A MINIMUM OF 100 YARDS. (YES, A FOOTBALL FIELD LENGTH). THE ADVANTAGE OF OUR MATERIAL IS IT IS AN EXACT MATCH MADE WITH MODERN MATERIALS, NOT 30 + YEAR OLD TECHNOLOGY. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MATERIAL IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE MADE UNLESS YOU WANT TO ORDERHUNDREDS OF YARDS AT A TIME TO HELPSPREAD OUT THE SET UP COSTS ON A PER YARD BASIS. THIS IS A 1980s EARTH TONE COLOR WHICH IS NOT POPULAR TODAY AND UNLIKE THEHUNDREDSOF DIFFERENT BLACK VINYLS ON THE MARKET, YOU CAN\'T JUST GO THE INTERNET AND BUY THIS STUFF. THE LAST 4 PHOTOS SHOW OUR CUSTOM MADE SEAT COVERS INSTALLED. THE COLOR IS A CUSTOM COLOR, NOT OURREPRODUCTIONOEM NUTMEG COLOR.
