JDMISME IS AJDM ToyotaAltezza OEM Option Bumper Pole AssemblyThis auction is for a JDM OEM Toyota option bumper pole assembly/kit removed from a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) ToyotaAltezza (1st Gen). This auction includes the pole assembly w/mounting bracket, exterior sub-harness, complete uncut interior harness w/control unit and switch. Also included are 2 vehicle side couplers with cut wire for ease of installation in case they are not foundon non-JDM vehicles.Bumper poles are used in Japan to help drivers who lack confidence in maneuvering the tight streets of Japan. The pole helps them judge the distance between the corner of the vehicle opposite the drivers seatfrom objects outside the vehicle. It can be raised and lowered using the switch which is installed in the dash. At night, with the lights of the vehicle on, the green LED light at the tip of the pole illuminates for better visibility.These next two pics show thepole motor and bracket assembly. Save thesefor futurereference as the mounting bracketwill be separated from the pole motor unit for shipping purposes:The mast/pole is inexcellent condition with no kinks or bends to hinder raising or lowering:The switch:I have many \'prior to removal\' pics further down in this description which will help you to understandeverything I am about to explain about the wiring.These next few pics show the components of the interior harness. The pole motor gets it\'s power from the piggy backplugs seen in this first pic. This provides constant 12V+ and also IGN \'ON\' 12V+. When the ignition is turned off, the pole will AUTOMATICALLY lower. This helps prevent vandalism and damage to the pole if you forget to lower it before leaving the vehicle.The harnessruns from the piggy backplugsto thecontrol unit which is mountedbehind thedrivers side kick plate area. In this next pic you can see the control unit and also a ground spade which is grounded anywhere nearby and also the switch.The harnessalso runs from the control unit to a femaleplug (white). This femaleplug attaches to a white maleplugthat can be found on ALL JDM Altezza\'s behind the JDM passenger side kick plate (above the fuse box/junction block). Thisplug is only used for option items such as this bumper pole kit. There are 4 wires on the plug, but only 2 are used for the bumper pole kit (the twisted and folded back wires are the ones not used with this kit). The 4 wires on thatplug are incoporated into the main vehicle harness and run out to the front of the vehicle to another femaleplug (gray), found just behind theJDM passengerside headlight . I am unsure if these wires/plugs are incorporated into non-JDM Altezza\'s (Lexus vehicles), so I have included the vehicle sideplugs with cut wire. If your vehicle does not have these wires/plugs incorporated into the main vehicle harness, you will simply need toextend/connect the 2 wires on the vehicle sideplugs that I have provided. If your vehicle DOES have these wires/plugs incorporated into the main harness, you can discard the vehicle side couplers I have provided and simplyconnect the matchingplugs on the interior harness and the pole motor unit with theplugs on your vehicle.This shows what wires you will need to extend and connect if your vehicle does not have them:This next pic shows the final part of the wiring. This is the exterior adapter harness which powers the LED light at the tip of the pole. The adapter harness connects to the white plug coming off of the motor unit. The other end piggy-backs the city light found on JDM headlights. I believe they do, but Iam not 100% sure if the headlights from other countries have city lights incorporated into them. If your headlights DO have city lights, then this piggy back harness should connect directly between thecity lightsocket and theplug for that socket. If your headlights doNOT have city lights, or the shape/size of theplug for your city lightsis DIFFERENT from theplugs on this piggy back harness,do not worry. Simply cut off one of the blackplugs from this piggy back harness and splice the wires into a 12V+ parking light source (red=12V+, black=ground).This is how everything looks when connected:When the pole is completely raised and the city/parking lights are turned on, the green LED light at the tip illuminates:As mentioned earlier, I have many \'prior to removal\' pics which will help explain everything. Some of these pics were taken during the removal of the last Altezza pole I obtained and some from the removal of this pole. I\'ve taken the best pics out of them all in order to explain everything the best. I HIGHLY recommend that you save these pics for reference during installation. They show where the pole is mounted on the JDMAltezza, how the bracket is mounted and locations of the plugs.Where it mounts on the bumper (a hole must be cut for the pole to be installed):This shows how the bracket is mounted onto the headlight support bar. The arrow points to the bolt where it attaches. Notice how the pole motor bracket runs along the underside of the headlight support bar. You can also see how the clear tube which houses the string gear for the pole motor slides inside the crash beam of the front bumper:This shows the grayplug on the pole motor unit connected to thepreviously mentioned vehicle side plug:Again, this gray female plug can be found behind the left/passenger side headlight of all JDM Altezzas. This is the exterior vehicle side coupler with cut wire that I have supplied in case your vehicle does not have it.This shows where the switchwas installed:Note the grayplug inserted into the fuse box/junction block in this next pic (pink arrows). This fuse box is found behind the JDM passenger side kick panel. This is where the male piggy backplug on the interior harness will be inserted:This shows the male piggy backplug on the interior harness inserted into that slot (pink arrows). The grayplug which was originally inserted into that slot is now inserted into the female piggy backplug on the interior harness (blue arrows). The wires with the yellow dotted linelead to the white femaleplug on the interior harness. That general area (yellow arrow) is where the vehicle sidemale white coupler is found on the JDM Altezza.Here that plug can be seen connected to the vehicle side male plug:I have made a quick video clip of this pole being tested. It shows the pole being lowered, then raised againusing the switch. You will then seean alligator clip being removed and then re-attached. This represents the ignition being turned off and the pole automatically lowering and then the ignition being turned on and the pole automatically raising (this happens when the switch is in the \'UP/AUTO\' position).
