Many of you are probably quite familiar with the high failure rate of the upper shock mounts on ’97 to ’06 model XK8s and XKRs. For many years, the factory Jaguar replacement upper shock mounts was the only option available if someone wanted to fix this problem. However, these factory units were neither cheap nor reliable, as Jaguar continually had supply issues with their manufacturers for these mounts over the years. Some suppliers decided to take it upon themselves to manufacture replacement bushing kits for these shock mounts. While a bit cheaper and more readily available than the factory unit, these bushing kits were not particularly good values to repair shops since they often cost over $100 a piece and required a mechanic to press out the old bushing and press in the new one, wasting valuable time and costing more in labor.
