Eaton began producing its fifth-generation supercharger in 2002 (with Mercedes-Benz as the first customer), and that design consisted of two helical-shaped rotors, each with three lobes that twist against each other to force a large volume of air into the combustion chamber.
In 2001, Eaton’s fifth-generation supercharger was made even better with the introduction of apatented abradable powder coating to increase volumetric efficiency, and a patented integral shaftbearing, which provided a packaging and cost improvement. Among the vehicle applications forthe Eaton’s fifth-generation supercharger are the Volkswagen Golf GTTM, Saturn Ion RedlineTM,Ford Mustang Cobra SVTTM, Shelby Mustang GT500TM, Chevrolet Cobalt SSTM, Cadillac STSVTM,Cadillac XLR-VTM, Jaguar XKRTM, and Range Rover SportTM.
This unit has been disassembled but never installed and is brand new.
