This listing is a headlight motor rebuild service for all 1988-1996 Corvette C4 headlight motors left/driver side or right/passenger side. If your headlight motor spins but does not open the headlight, opens the headlight partially, or keeps running with a clunking noise after the headlight has opened or closed then my rebuild serviceis what you need to solve your problem.
If you need both sides rebuilt then please select (2) two items and I will assume you need one left and one right. Usually when one motor fails the other is not far behind.
Removal and installation instructions are now available upon request. Just add a note with your payment under \"message to seller\" and I will send them to your PayPal email address.
Rebuilding your OEM motors is the best most cost effective method to solve your headlight motor issues. Even though you are having trouble with your motors the original equipment motors are usually rebuildable and are the best quality you will ever find. Anyone who knows auto parts knows that as time goes by the quality of replacement parts suffers, both through the GM dealer and aftermarket. Especially after ten years.
PLEASE NOTE: The aftermarket replacement headlight motors shown in the last picture are not accepted for rebuild or as a core return. These motors are inferior to OEM motors and they do not share any parts so they cannot be rebuilt. Feel free to contact me or send a picture if you are unsure if you have one of these motors.

*OPTION # 2 REFUNDABLE CORE DEPOSIT.......If you prefer to have the motor(s) shipped to you right away and then return your core(s) to me later please see my other listing that has the $75 per motor refundable core deposit included in the purchase price. The deposit will be promptly refunded back to your Paypal account (or credit card if payment is made by credit card) the same day I receive your complete re-buildable OEM core motor(s). The other listing includes a small fee to help cover additional eBay fees. If you prefer to avoid the fee you can purchase this listing and then request option #2 and I will send you a separate PayPal invoice for the refundable core deposit.

This upgrade will fortify the main weakness in these motors which is the gear assembly. You will likely never have to worry about a stripped or broken gear ever again. You cannot buy a new or rebuilt motor with this upgrade anywhere else but here. Just request a total with the upgrade before you pay and I will add the upgrade to your eBay invoice.
Your headlight motorwill be completely disassembled and cleaned, the brushes inspected for wear and replaced when necessary, the armature housingand actuator bracket is bead blasted and repainted when necessary to remove all traces of rust, all new gaskets and precision machined torque pins installed. The new precision machined torque pins are much better qualityandwill last forever as opposed to OEM gel pins which fail and end up being ground to bits inside the gear housing. The nylon gear isreplaced when necessary and properly lubricated with the correct OEM grease. End play is also adjusted and then the entire assembly is fully bench tested to assure your headlight motor is working perfectly and runs as quiet and smooth as when it was new! I have a 10 day handling time onthis listing to accommodate those sending me their cores for rebuild. Your headlight motor will ship within 2 business days after I receive your core or core deposit. Please ship your core to me in a timely fashion so that it arrives within 10 days of your purchase if sending your core for rebuild.

Beware re-builders who are using petroleum based grease! It is the wrong grease for this application and will deteriorate the nylon plastic gear prematurely.Petroleum based grease will also break down over time and coat the inside of the motor causing it to fail. Lithium grease will also dry out very quickly. Most rebuilders use these types of grease to save $$$. I only use high quality grease designed for use with electric components.
Beware eBay sellers selling used headlight motors that have not been rebuilt! If they are still working they won\'t be for long. After 20+ years they will soon fail for the same reasons as the one(s) you are trying to replace. That is why they do not warranty them or only warranty them for14 days (Seriously 14 days!!!) In most cases my rebuild service is still cheaper than used motors.
Beware the cheap Chinese headlight motors that are for sale on eBay and most auto parts stores. They have a very high failure rate and do not last very long. That is why they only have a maximum 1 year warranty. I have received many of these as core returns and after only a few years of use they are usually rusted so badlyI cannot even take them apart.
