This is the optional ratcheting style automatic transmission shifter from a 1979 Special Edition Bandit WS6 Pontiac Trans Am. It was a very low mileage car that was wrecked early in its life. This will fit the 70-81 Pontiac Trans am Firebird or Formula models and Camaro RS amd Z28 models. But most were equipped with the standard straight style. This was the performance automatic shifter that Pontiac installed in its high performance models it detents to the right for faster slap shifting through the gears. Mostly used on SUPER DUTY HO 455 RAM AIR SPECIAL EDITION GOLD SE Z28 models.The date code on this shifter is 9 12 1979. This shifter is in ABSOLUTELY fantastic condition as shown and operates flawlessly. The chrome handle is excellent with no pitting or peeling. The shifter mechanisms are not rusty or damaged whatsoever. It would be nearly impossible to find a nicer example of this rare shifter these days. Check out the many photos. Also included is a bracket that looks new and came with the shifter, I believe it is the one that mounts the cable to the transmission. Nicest one I have had in 20 years Don\'t miss out on this one!!
