READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before bidding on this listing:Two Used Eagle GT+4 215/60R15 tires recently removed from the rear rims of my 1988 Fiero GT. These are the same tire model that came standard with the black or gold honeycomb rims on the 1988 GT and 1988 Formula.
Manufacture date code shows 112 which I believe is 11the week of 1992 so these particular tires were purchased several years after the Fiero was discontinued, as replacements for the original tires.
The tread is about 2/16"-3/16" depending on where measured. The tires would be ideal for someone that is showing a low mileage stock 88 Fiero GT or Formula at car shows and wants the car to have Eagle GT+4 tires for that factory look. The car should NOT be driven on these tires due to a possible sidewall blow out but would be perfect for a car that is trailered or driven to the show on other wheels and then have these tires with other rims moved over for the show.
The tires before I removed from my Fiero, were holding air but over the last couple years started a slow leak where they would lose about 10 psi over the course of a week or two. I am not sure where the leak was coming from: could have been the sidewalls, valve stems, or the bead surface. If mounted with new valve stems and heavy sealant along the bead surface, they might hold air just fine long term but I don't guarantee that. For the purposes of displaying the car for a day or two at a show, the air loss shouldn't be noticeable. The sidewall crack pictures are with me pushing down compressing the sidewalls to show the extent of the cracking. The dry rot extends up to where the tread is and there is a slight separation along the sidewall/tread intersection as pictured.I have seen some videos on youtube where people have used various methods to cosmetically touch up sidewall dry rot without too much effort to make them look almost like there are no cracks. I can't vouch for the quality of such a touch up job and don't know if they'd work on these tires. The touch ups don't fix the integrity of the tire itself but for a car show only tire it could be a good solution. I have NOT attempted to do this and the tires have not been repaired or touched up as I did not want to misrepresent the condition.
I do have the front 205 tires still mounted on the car and could be persuaded to part with those for the right additional price. The fronts have less cracking (probably since the fronts have less weight on them then the rears) and I plan to keep them on the car for now.
