Why your Saab 9-3 hydraulic lines burst, please read this!Over the years, I have owned 3 Saab 9-3 Convertibles and dismantled over a hundred of them. I sold 150+ of those hydraulic lines on eBay and can provide first hand insight why you are having this problem. If you are reading this, most likely you need line G or P. The G is the top line for the passenger\'s side 5th bow cylinder, and the P is tsymmetrical for the driver\'s side. The reason why lines P and G leak is that they are routed from the factory with sharp 180-degree bend few inches below their cylinder end. This causes extra stress at that location, and while they worked for 10-15 years, they eventually burst.Now, all 10 lines are identical except their length. Most often, when your G or P burst, I recommend installing a line with similar length, simply because those other lines did not have that 180° kink in them for all these years, and thus will last much longer! Black rubber casing peeling issue.
Hydraulic lines operate at over 1,000 psi hydraulic pressure. Obviously, black rubber casing is just an outside layer and does not help hold any pressure. I have seen many convertible set ups with perfect black casing, and I have seen many with black casing badly peeling. It does not have anything to do with whether you live in hot Arizona or cold New England. The reason for the disintegration of black casing is reaction with hydraulic fluid. When your cylinder seal starts to leak, the fluid very slowly makes its way down the lines, saturating them. Soon, the lines begin to peel. It does not affect their reliability, and the lines are as strong.

There is a letter code on both ends of line. Also letter codes are stamped on the pump (see last picture for reference).
