DESCRIPTION
OEM 1978, 77/79Pontiac Trans Am Pontiac L78 400 Shaker Air Cleaner. The assembly has media blasted and refinished in semi-gloss black to present a period correct image.Thebase features a single round snorkel in good condition with the correct 4\" opening, original yellow-striped vacuum lines, and a new heavy duty air filter. All factory emissions components to include EVE and ATS are included as well. The exterior features an original GM Air Cleaner Service Decal (PF=78).The base features the correct deep drop required for proper shaker hood clearance, as well as the angled flange that parallels the base level with the sloped hood line.The shaker lid isin very good condition as well; there is a small ding on the corner and typical stamping striations across the center of the lid - out of sight once installed.To complete the package,aperiod correct wing nut, multi-port thermo vacuum switch with clip, & new filter breather replete with GM stamped rubber adapter are included. There are very slight surface anomalies in the bottom - out of sight once installed, but mentioned for clarity.
As an added bonus, an original pre-heater elbow replete with a new pre-heater hose and Wittek tower clamp are included.
Also included with this assembly is a new 4\" fresh air hose as pictured - a hard to find OEM style piece with metal clips (not cut off or plastic ends) that was a service replacement. This allows you to hook the entire assembly up to your elbow/fender ducts to have fresh air as the factory designed.
This assembly is in very nice condition and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a genuineGM part!

This assembly is correct for the following 1977 / & 78-79models:

Trans Amwith 400 Pontiac engine
*It will also fit 78-79 400s; the HP air cleaners featured the W-72 oval snorkel air cleaner.
Note: this will NOT fit the L80 403 Olds engines due to the offset of the shaker scoop, as well as the difference in carburetor flange drop.
FITMENT
The assembly will fit factory 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetors with a 5 1/8\" diameter flange, as well asHolley (it will NOT fit double pumpers; i.e. models 4150/4160), Carter/Edelbrock variations without an electric choke (some adjustment to the carburetor alignment tangs may be required). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
