Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a professionally \"restored like new\" original Studebaker R2 Carter 3588S Supercharged sealed Carburetor for your Supercharged R2 Avanti, Hawk or Lark available just in time for springtime. I found two original R2 carburetors this last fall from a Hi-Po collector in California and had both carburetors restored at a highly respected local carburetor re-builder. I am keeping one of the carburetors for my next assault on the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race to repair the fuel blow-by on the primary and secondary throttle shafts and the supercharger pressure I was losing through the choke butterfly on my current R2 carburetor.
This particular 3588S carburetor in this auction is jetted with .101 primaries,.095 secondaries and .070 x .047 metering rods with blue metering springs. I\'ve found this jetting to be the best combination for tuning for my own R2 Hawk engine, your results may differ on your own R2 engine. The restorer took great pride in this rebuild, by re-bushing all butterflies, sealing the choke butterflies with felt washers (use a couple drops of oil), restored using the factory recommended two gaskets between the carburetor top and base, sealing the proper screws within the carburetor and the carburetor top,and re-plating all hardware and linkages. This is one beautifully restored rare carburetor. There are no disappointments with this carburetor and I am extremely pleased to offer this carburetor up for sale.
