This is a blank uncut Transponder Key Shell (without the transponder chip) for selected Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda vehicles. It has an uncut blade and does NOT come with the transponder chip inside, so it will require cutting and a transponder chip with programming for your vehicle by a dealer in your area or at a local car locksmith. Please keep in mind that proof of ownership for your vehicle will most likely be required (such as ID, title, registration or insurance card) to make sure you are the owner or authorized user. Most late model vehicles require a key with the transponder chip as part of the vehicle security system to actually start the car but once cut, this key works perfectly as a spare just in case you lock your keys in the car or for your trunk, hatch, glove compartment or gas cap. Keep in mind that if you have a worn out or broken transponder key, you can remove the transponder chip from your old key to use in this new one.
