It’s not often that we get real world dyno results from super exotics, so we excited to bring you real world horsepower and torque figures for the Mercedes SLR 722 Edition in both stock and modified forms. The Mercedes-Benz SLR 722 is likely to be the most expensive and powerful car Mercedes currently produces with an astounding 650 HP and 605 pounds of torque. The number 722 refers to the victory by Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722, indicating a start time of 7:22 a.m., at the Mille Miglia in 1955 (ref Wikipedia).

RENNtech put the SLR 722 on a DynoJet dyno for some baseline dyno results and came up with 546.24 horsepower and 539.53 pounds of torque at the rear wheels. Using an estimated driveline loss of 18% for the 722’s automatic transmission, that puts the stock SLR 722 at around 665 HP and 657 pounds of torque. Of course that’s not enough power for the folks over at RENNtech, so they did a few upgrades. By changing a pulley to spin the supercharger quicker for more boost, adding some cooling upgrades and some ECU tuning, the newly modified SLR 722 put down 593.06 horsepower and 602.15 pounds of torque to the rear wheels. Using the same 18% driveline loss, that puts the numbers at 723 HP and 734 pounds of torque. This makes the SLR 722 really live up to it’s name with just over 722 horsepower!

We haven’t seen any 1/4 mile results from any 722’s let alone modified ones, but we do have some times for both stock and modified SLR’s with the quickest modified one running 11.02 @ 128.8 MPH and the quickest stock one running 11.4 @ 126.5 MPH. Based on these times the the RENNtech SLR 722 should have no trouble breaking into the 10’s.
