Oklahoma Street Sleeper – 1000WHP Chevy Silverado 1500

The owner of this Oklahoma Street Sleeper shop truck will look familiar to most gearheads. He is Monza from the Street Outlaws cable television show. I know that he drives a Camaro on the show (not a Monza). It’s complicated. This short video features Monza’s shop truck; a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD Shortbed. This truck looks and sounds like a stock shop truck (with exhaust mods) but runs like a race car. Let’s zoom in for a closer look.

Monza raises the hood to reveal a 6.0-liter V8 engine with a 125hp shot of nitrous and a pair of 62-millimeter ON3 turbochargers. The engine has an Edelbrock intake and it has been treated to a camshaft upgrade. Other than that, the engine is basically stock. Fortunately, stock for the Chevy 6.0 is heavy-duty with 4-bolt maincaps. The transmission is a Rossler 4L80E with a trans brake and the rear end is a Ford 9-inch from Quick Performance. It has dual Walbro 450 fuel pumps, 1320 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson rubber and Turbosmart blow-off valves and wastegates.

All-in-all, this is a clean and fast little truck that you might not even see coming – until it blows your doors off on the way to victory.
