9-Second Cadillac – Best Engine

Like a hood-less horseman, this Caddy is as likely seen “galloping” across the countryside as sprinting through 1320-feet of blacktop. Despite the full roll cage and shiny pair of CO2 tanks; plush, leather seating, air conditioning, premium audio, and power steering are among the amenities with which this street beast is equipped. Nevertheless, it can dash through the quarter-mile in nine-seconds at around 152 mph – consistently.

Under the hood of this (Black Market Racing built) 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan is an LME custom 7.0-liter V8 with a dry sump lubrication system. It has Mast cylinder heads and twin Precision 76-millimeter turbochargers. The transmission is a pneumatically shifted TH400 and the car is capable of making 1,824hp at the rear wheels under 40 psi of boost.

This luxurious family sedan goes hood-less to keep temperatures down in the engine compartment, but hood-less also puts that award-winning LS engine on full display. It’s a win-win situation. Check out the drag racing action on this clip.
