This flex pipe is a direct replacement for genuine VW catalytic converter down pipes. VAG Volkswagen Audi Group uses wire mesh, not wire braid. Wire braid is commonly found in North America but is too rigid and causes premature cracking near the welded joint.This part is designed primarily for the 1K0 254 511 catalytic converter but will fit many others.Note: The existing flex pipe will need to be cut and ground off using an angle grinder from the existing assembly prior to welding. 304SS MIG or TIG welding is recommended.
