Reconditioned shorty 3 speed manual transmission for 53-62 Ford F100 pickups with short wheelbases (110\" and 114\" mostly). I list this as 2 different transmissions in the title as the 53-56 used the side cover with the clutch mount bracket while 57-62 used the car style side cover. The gallery (1st picture) shows the 53-56 transmission cover and the 2nd picture shows the 57-62 cover. The transmission includes only ONE side cover..Buyers choice.
I made this transmission from parts: I had the case, bearing retainer, and side cover, and added everything else. These parts were hot tanked, bead blasted, cleaned, primed, and painted with Cast Blast paint. I had an excellent used cluster and slider gear (original 51-54) which I utilized. The synchronizer assembly has a new hub, springs, inserts and blocking rings. The sleeve is excellent used.
New parts include:
Input shaft.
Mainshaft.
Tailhousing.
2nd gear.
Idler gear.
Countershaft (cluster pin)
Thrust washers and needle bearings.
Input shaft rollers.
Input shaft bearing, output shaft bearing.
Shift shaft seals, tailhousing seal, and gaskets.
This gear ratio was used for 6 cylinder and V-8 engines in 53, 54 and 55 and only for 6 cylinders from 56 to 62.
The 1st gear ratio is 2.76 to 1. 2nd gear is 1.61 to 1. The 56 to 62 V-8 ratios would be: 1st gear ratio is 2.55 to 1. 2nd gear ratio is 1.61 to 1.LOCAL PICKUP ONLY!
