    My 2012 silver ice metallic pre painted tailgate assy.

    I found it to be in no way inferior to the factory tailgate it replaced. Price for pre-painted was excellent deal and color was spot on. They use stainless steel fasteners on the upper cap instead of the factory black mild steel. Some may not like the contrast of the stainless against the black plastic but you can either paint them or use the originals. Only other thing, which could be a good thing, is that the upper cap is not secured on the backside with 3m adhesive like the factory one. Not sure what benefit is serves anyway as it is quite secure with the fasteners. I'm quite pleased with the deal I got considering the quality , price, and convenience of home delivery. Life is good.

    Not Quite What I Expected

    The tailgate arrived earlier than expected and the package was in excellent condition. However, once I opened the outer box, the inside box appeared to have been previously opened. It came from Taiwan, so it was possibly opened to be painted? (Pic 1) The tailgate was covered in a fine white powder. (Pic 2) After carefully cleaning the powder off, I discovered several swirl marks and small scratches. It appeared as if someone had previously tried to clean or polish it - badly. The paint finish had several places where it appeared that the plastic had stuck to it - leaving marks on the surface. (Pic 3) The finish was less than perfect with several small specs, bumps, and bubbles throughout, and with a strange textured section along the bottom edge, about an inch in width, from the left ...

    Great buy!

    The tailgate was perfect for my truck. The paint job was flawless and the tailgate worked out well after I switched the locking hardware from the damaged unit to the new unit. You have to switch the pivot cups and the stabilizer bar over in order for it to fit, the instructions don't tell you that. The bar has to be secured inside the tailgate too. Very easy job to do, Overall, it was an excellent buy.

    Would have been 5 stars except for the ding

    The tailgate arrived a couple of days earlier than expected. The paint job was excellent and everything was put together. It arrived in a well packed box. The paint job perfectly matched my truck. The only issue I had was that there is a small ding in the left/middle of the outside tailgate skin. I thought about returning the tailgate, but it is barely noticeable except when the truck is clean. Ironically, the ding is from the within the tailgate itself, not the outside going in. I added a customized blue Chevy bowtie and the lettering back on the new tailgate. The bowtie and lettering did not come with the tailgate With the exception of the small ding, the tailgate was perfect. I will figure out a way to hide the ding. If need be, I would definitely buy this tailgate again!

    Bad gate. Easily damaged.

    These are thin, cheap, Korean copies. They are painted thinly. Then the box scuffs the clear coat by the time it gets to you. You’d be lucky to get one that hasn’t been damaged anyway. I got 2 in a row that FedEx mangled. I can’t blame them entirely. The package is inadequate, and not marked in any way with handling instructions. Rather than attempt a 3rd, with adequate packing, they refuse, and give you your money back. Over a month gone by, still no tailgate. i do not recommend at all.
