Twin Turbo LS Swapped Mustang vs. Nissan GT-R – Drag Race

June 5th, 2024

The crazies at Hoonigan are at it again. This time, they’re coming from the Texas Motorplex for a Longhorn style This vs That. It’s a contest that cobbles together the best from the U.S. in competition with a monster from the Land of the Rising Sun.

This will be a carefully orchestrated series of drag races on a closed course – No Prep style.

In lime green is the 2016 Nissan GT-R. An all-wheel drive coupe, the GT-R (known around the world as Godzilla) is powered by a twin turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 punched out and stroked to 4.1-liters. The turbochargers are 64-millimeter with loads of Extreme Turbo parts backing them up. Like the engine, the transmission has been professionally built and fortified with billet internals. The suspension and brakes have been upgraded and you can see the wheels and tires. This Nissan is tuned by JoTec. It’s good for 1,500whp according to the owner.

Basic black is the color of the twin turbo LS swapped 2012 Ford Mustang GT. This frothy pony is running a 5.3-liter LS V8 engine built by Texas Speed. The remainder of the rear-wheel driveline consists of an air-shifted Freak Show Performance 2-speed Power Glide transmission and a Moser (Ford) 9-inch rear end. The interior of this Ford is completely gutted to decrease weight. While the suspension has been upgraded, the brakes are basically stock. As you can see, the wheels and tires are “race”. This domestic diva is claiming 1,100 to 1,200whp.

Let’s get this show on the road!
