Twin-Turbo 5.3-liter Nova Runs 8-Second Quarter-MileNathan Shaw of Lakeville, Minnesota has built himself a great little street/strip car. It has a dandy paint job that appears black under certain light conditions and green in others. The car is a 1971 Chevrolet Nova and it was on display during One Guy’s Garage Drag Week; more importantly, he laid down an 8.63 1/4-mile pass @ 157.91 mph.

Nathan’s Nova is well equipped with an all-aluminum 2008 5.3-liter Chevy block with Wiseco pistons, Callie’s connecting rods, a stock crankshaft, ARP hardware, and TFS 220 cylinder heads. Air induction is of the forced variety and features a pair of Turbonetics 6668s on 28-pounds of boost. The transmission is a 4L80E automatic with a non-lockup converter which transfers power to a 9-inch rear differential with 3.25:1 gears.
