Twin Turbo 1955 Chevy Goes Viral
December 12th, 2024Affectionately called The Virus, this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop build has it all. As you can see, the exterior is pristine. The interior is equally excellent, and the powertrain is state-of-the art. Thanks to car owner David Linn for treating us to the details of the build as well as a quality test drive.
This shoebox Chevy rides on a custom tubular chassis. The flawless sheet metal is also custom fabricated between the rockers. In fact, the fabulous creation displayed in this video hardly resembles the neglected shell of a car that Dave and his buddy rescued from a remote field. Every inch of the interior is handmade, hand stitched or hand-me-down. This community-wide collaboration project is truly a work of art.
Under the hood is a twin turbocharged LS6 6.0-liter V8 motor (premium internals) making approximately 1,100hp on pump gas. The big mill is mated to a 4L80E automatic transmission. The rear end is a Ford 9-inch in a nodular housing.
Looking cool is single symptom of this Virus. It also goes from A to B in a heckuva hurry, with the capacity to behave like a lamb on the street.
Enjoy the ride along.
