Turbo LS Swap Nissan 240sx Tears Up the Track at FL2K

November 5th, 2020

What’s not to love about little import cars with big domestic V8 engines? Few import coupes make a better candidate for an LS swap than the Nissan 240sx. Because it is a rear-wheel drive setup (from the factory), stabbing a V8 motor, the transmission of choice and a suitable rear end is much easier than transforming a front-wheel drive vehicle. Join us as we go to the pits and get the details of this deluxe build.

Car owner James tells us that he has had this car for over 10-years (it’s a 1990). The version of the car that you see in this video has been a gradual evolution in performance. Under the hood is an LS (Chevrolet) engine built by Texas Speed. Engine internals include a solid lift camshaft and Crower bottom end components. The turbocharger is a 91-millimeter unit, and the controller is a Holley HP stand-alone module. The new rear end is a solid axle platform from IDS. The build is fresh.

In the first pass, James cuts a clean light and gaptizes a late model Mustang. Despite running low boost (4 psi out of the hole, ramping up to 13 psi through the trap), the car leaves hard and gets from A to B like a rocket.

On the second day of racing, James draws a Chevy Malibu Wagon. Again, he comes out of the hole like a bullet and flies through the trap for the win.

In the final race, James finally runs out of fuel. With a set of oversized fuel injectors, James will definitely have himself a serious contender. We can’t wait to see where this car and crew go from here.
