Top Gear Stig Laps – Aston Martin Valkyrie
April 3rd, 2025On a rare sunny day in the United Kingdom, we join Jack Rix (Editor-in-Chief of Top Gear Magazine) for Stig Laps with a car that has been described as “unlike anything else on four wheels”. It’s Aston Martin’s F1 inspired hypercar. The Aston Martin Valkyrie sits fueled up and ready to tame the Top Gear Test Track and it is firmly in the hands of Stig. It’s a perfect performance storm.
The mid-engine, rear-wheel drive Valkyrie is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine that revs to 11,000 RPM. There’s also an electric motor inside the 7-speed sequential transmission. The two power sources combine for an earth shattering 1,139hp and 682 lb.-ft. of torque. At a curb weight of 2,271-pounds, the AMR Pro version of the Valkyrie can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.3-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 7.7-seconds @ 163 mph. Top speed is over 220 mph.
In addition to being a bit lighter than the street version, the AMR Pro version has also undergone some special tuning. It rolls on racing slicks and can generate more than its weight in downforce. All that aerodynamic prowess and supernatural downforce can be partly contributed to the huge diffuser on the rear of the car. Air is swept underneath in a manner that virtually vacuums the Valkyrie to the pavement at high-speed.
Hope Stig is up to the task. Anything less than a new track record will be a tremendous disappointment.
