Top Gear First Look – 2107HP Rimac Nevera R
September 4th, 2024It wasn’t as though people were saying that electric supercars were underpowered. Certainly, some of the current crop of high-performance EVs are at the top of the heap when it comes to blinding acceleration. Nevertheless, Rimac has seen fit to introduce a Type R variant of the Nevera. Sleek, clean lines and premium materials combine with neck-snapping performance in this latest iteration of the all-electric hypercar.
Top Gear has deployed Deputy Editor Ollie Kew to give us the rundown of this extraordinary example of innovative automotive workmanship.
Built around the Rimac Next Gen 108 kWh battery pack, the ultra-lightweight Rimac Nevera R utilizes four electric motors and an all-wheel drivetrain to deploy 2,107hp to the pavement. Top speed is 256 mph.
With the capacity to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.74-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 8.2-seconds, it would be easy to overlook the fact that the Nevera R was engineered to tame the track (road courses). Upgrades like all-wheel torque vectoring steering and a more aggressive aero profile make the Nevera R one of the most capable production vehicles on the market.
A production run of only forty vehicles and a price tag of more than $2-million ensure that you won’t see many examples of the Rimac Nevera R at the local cruise-in.
