Taming Texas – Import vs. Domestic Street Hits

October 23rd, 2024

Typical nightlife – slightly south of the Texas border – involves high spirited street racing. Knuckle busting ruffians have gathered in mass to showcase their machines purpose-built for roll racing. Take a gander for yourselves.

The action opens up with a pair of Corvette Z06 entries duking it out. Both are equipped with Magnuson 2650 superchargers. One has a manual transmission. The other has an automatic. This one seems to go back and forth in multiple hits. Whatever the outcome – these are some beautiful cars.

Next up, the Z06 camera car (Magnuson swapped C7 Corvette Z06) takes on a C6 Corvette Z06 with a D1X ProCharger. Once again, we have mixed results in multiple hits. Good news is that these are some really close races.

We have a newcomer on the interstate for this contest. He’s in a twin turbocharged Ford Mustang Mach 1. The camera car is rolling out against the Ford. There’s no joy in Fordville as the Corvette gaps the Mustang in multiple hits.

A big turbo MK5 Toyota Supra looks to gain an edge on the camera car as the evening unfolds. On paper, this looks like a close race. As the two cars pull alongside, the call rings out “3 – 2 – 1.” And both competitors lurch forward under full acceleration. The supercharged Corvette takes an early advantage. The turbo car spools up and quickly closes the gap. Who gets the win? You tell me.
