Street Pulls – 800WHP EVO

November 3rd, 2017

What could be sweeter than an 800whp DSM? How about a warm night of roll racing on the highways of Mexico?

The feature car is a 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution (8) that has been radically modified to enhance performance. It is powered by an EVO 9 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been built by AG Autosport (with steel connecting rods). The bottom end is rated at 1,000hp. It also uses a Precision 62-millimeter turbocharger. A pair of Walbro 450 pumps keep the E85 fuel flowing. A Haltech ECU (tuned by CriSpeed) keeps all the ponies running in the same direction. The remainder of the drivetrain is stock.

The first pull of the night pits the EVO against a Nissan GT-R. Godzilla is a car that must always be taken seriously. This time, the EVO dispatches the GT-R quickly and easily.

Next up, we have a Suzuki Hayabusa taking on the EVO. This is a much closer contest with the (modified) bike taking the advantage.

Finally, there is a three-wide contest between the EVO, a twin-turbo Camaro (850whp), and a Cadillac CTS-V (Dart engine block and ported blower). I’ll let you make the call on this one.

There’s also some roll racing action between the Baltic Supra and some souped-up street bikes. Have a look – and listen – for yourself!
