Stapleton Sleeper – Turbo GMC Yukon

June 30th, 2021

Keeping in mind that Mitchell Stapleton (Stapleton Auto Works) already owns a 9-second Cadillac Escalade (LSXCalade), one might wonder why he is building a turbo Yukon SUV. Well, you need something to drive on the streets, right? And what is better than a turbocharged street sleeper of a supersize grocery-getter – especially if it is full of childhood memories. Let’s see where Mitchell is at with this build before he hits the track.

Under the hood, the big Tahoe has been modified with a Force Performance 7275 turbocharger. A hand-me-down e-bay crossover manifold transfers all that boost to the top end as efficiently (cheaply!) as possible. A set of DeatschWerks fuel injectors and a DeatschWerks fuel pump help to spray the extra fuel needed to accommodate the forced air induction. The automatic transmission has been upgraded to a 4L80E with a TransGo HD2 shift kit and ProTorque triple-disc converter. All this is a good start for a street sleeper that has more mods to come.

Today, Mitchell will be racing Kyle (1320 video) in his undefeated Escalade. Who will win the Grocery Getter Trophy when this all shakes out? Check out the video.
