Six-Second Supra – 2200HP Nitrous Monster

June 5th, 2021

This old school Toyota Supra is planning to blow the doors off everybody at the Hail Mary Derby from Maryland International Raceway. Between Jason Miller’s patented track prep to the prime Maryland climate, the Cody Phillips Racing crew plan to enter uncharted territory with their beast of a Supra.

The Supra is running an inline 6-cylinder 2JZ setup with a 98-millimeter Precision turbo and a healthy shot of nitrous. Maximum output is estimated to be 2,200 to 2,400hp. Let’s see what the track will take.

The weekend begins uneventfully with the Phillips crew posting a 7.09-second pass @ 194.86 mph. The guys are hoping to surpass the World Record mark of 6.80.

After proving Murphy’s law with a broken driveshaft that wiped out the trans cooler, the crew have made the necessary repairs and the Supra is ready for action on Day 2. On the first pass of the day, the Supra creeps closer to the record with a 6.87-second run @ 204.48 mph. That’s a personal best for Cody and the Phillips crew.

Day 3 (night actually) brings more good fortune for the Phillips team as they post a 6.81-second pass @ 204.05 mph. That’s as good as it is going to get for this weekend. Supra blew up the turbo on that run.

Smart money is betting that this team will destroy that World Record before the season is over.
