Red Savage – 1800WHP GMC Sonoma
March 5th, 2020Greetings racing fans and welcome back for more hot-blooded No Prep drag racing action. 1320 video ran across Justin Heckman from Joplin, Missouri. Justin owns and operates the Red Savage. Today, he will be campaigning the Savage in dual classes – Small Tire and True Street. After watching Justin and his crew from Garage Built Racing run amuck in two classes filled with heavy hitters, we discovered that the Savage is tuned by none other then the legendary Beater Bomb. Hilarious.
The Red Savage is a 1985 GMC S15 pickup with a 388 cubic-inch Mike Lough Racing LS motor. A massive 102/108-millimeter Pro Mod turbo provides the forced air induction and a Holley fuel delivery system keeps the go-go juice flowing freely. The Savage is dyno certified to deliver 1829hp to the rear wheels. Justin and crew have made a ton of modifications since last season and they are looking to work out the kinks today. Justin believes that the street style format of today’s contest gives him a good chance of finishing in the money. Let’s take a look.
As the Savage goes deeper and deeper into rounds – and adds more and more power – it is evident that this testing session is going to be a huge success. Question is can Justin and the Red Savage hold on and make it worth his 7-hour ride from Missouri?
