Record Breaking Honda S2000 – Half-Mile Airstrip Attack

October 9th, 2020

The standing half-mile is an excellent test of top speed and durability. The 2020 Indy Airstrip Attack attracted some of the most capable half-mile machines in the country. One of the most capable of these competitors is a Honda S2000 with a heck of an attitude.

Car owner Stuart Leiby and T1 Race Development have built a record shattering Honda S2000 without even swapping the engine. Under the hood is the stock F22C1 DOHC Vortec motor (block and crankshaft) with a 68-millimeter Xona Rotor turbocharger. The F22C1 motor is cylinder sleeved from the factory, making it an ideal candidate for adding power. Engine internals have also been upgraded with performance connecting rods, pistons, wrist pins, rings, etc. The transmission is a 6-speed sequentially shifted dog box.

After a blown pass of 189 mph, Stuart posts a second pass of 193.38 mph (both World Record passes). He will not consider the weekend a success unless he posts a 200 mph top speed. Let’s drop in and see how he does from here.

On the very next pass, the T1 car runs a 195.14. Another record shattering pass and definitely a step in the right direction.
