Pro Touring Texas – 1700HP Twin Turbo Chevrolet Chevelle Restomod

March 27th, 2025

Congratulations to this Canadian car owner who knew enough to have a Texas firm handle this classic Chevelle build. It’s a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle and it is jam up and jelly straight from stem to stern. Check out these specs.

After putting the original sheet metal through some significant stages of transformation – including mini tubs, a quarter panel replacement, a new transmission tunnel, a slick firewall treatment and Duplicolor undercoating, the old Chevelle was mounted on a Fast Track chassis from Roadstershop. The front suspension consists of tubular control arms. The rear is a four-link setup. Fox adjustable shocks adorn all four corners. Baer brakes with 6-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors handle the stopping duties – and yes, those are maple leaves. Those wheels are from Billet Specialties, and they are wrapped in Nitto rubber.

Under the hood is a 7.0-liter LSX engine built by Nelson Racing. Of course, it is fortified with all the best go fast goodies including a Holley Performance ECU. Oh yeah, it’s also twin turbocharged. The whole shebang is good for 1,700whp on race gas or 1,100whp on pump gas. The transmission is a Tremec 6-speed manual, and the rear end is a Ford 9-inch in a Strange Engineering housing with 35 spline axles.

The interior is every bit as special as the exterior with premium audio and ice-cold air conditioning.

This build delivers the best of yesterday and tomorrow.
