POV – 9-Second McLaren 570S

May 18th, 2017

This video introduces us to what is officially the first McLaren 570S to ever post a 9-second quarter-mile elapsed time. That makes this British built supercar a world record holder of sorts.

In my humble opinion, the McLaren 570S is a seriously amazing automobile, in factory trim. Each (entry level) mid-engine 570S that rolls off the assembly line (there are only about 4,000 produced annually) does so with a 502hp, 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged, V8 engine that also makes 443 lb.-ft. of torque. It comes with a sequential, 7-speed gearbox and it is rear-wheel drive. In stock trim, the 570S can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.9-seconds and has an electronically controlled top-speed of 204 mph.

Having all that said, our feature car is not stock.

It has undergone some slight (but expert) modification at the hands of a firm called Billet Design Motorsports in Pompano Beach, Florida. Marco Manzie provided a custom tune and the other modifications include a custom exhaust and some cooling system enhancements (air intake).

Get in and ride along as this British beauty rolls through the quarter-mile, a dyno run, and some street hits. This car is luxurious and so incredibly smooth that it’ll make you want to cough-up the $180K and get one of your very own.
