Ported Supercharger Corvette vs. Nitrous Camaro – 50 to 150 MPH Street Hits
September 25th, 2024It’s a Chevy-on-Chevy thing on the streets (of Mexico), tonight. What we have here is a pair of heavily modified Chevrolets ready to knuckle up for a little cash and some sizable bragging rights. One thing is for certain – it won’t be boring.
The Canary Yellow C6 (2005-2013) Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 motor that can make 638hp and 603 lb.-ft. of torque in factory condition. Right out of the box, this yellow bird could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 11.3-seconds @ 131 mph. Top speed was an electronically controlled 205 mph. The ZR1 featured in this video has gone far beyond that. It has been upgraded with forged engine internals, a set of high-performance cylinder heads, a high-performance camshaft and a full accoutrement of bolt-ons. Oh, the supercharger has been professionally ported by Kong Performance to increase air flow. It might look pretty, but it’s a real beast.
On the other side, the sixth gen (2016-2024) Chevrolet Camaro LT1 came from the factory with a naturally aspirated all-aluminum 6.2-liter V8 engine that could produce 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. At a curb weight of 3,788-pounds, the stock Camaro LT1 could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9-seconds and blow through the quarter-mile in 12.2-seconds @ 118 mph. This Camaro has been modified with aftermarket cylinder heads, a high-performance camshaft and intake manifold. It has been tuned to burn E85 fuel. This Chevy is also running at least one kit of nitrous.
Should be a great race. Buckle-up.
