Pocket Dyno for the iPhone

November 12th, 2008

InMotion Software has released a new iPhone application called Pocket Dyno that measures a vehicles performance data by using the iPhone’s built in accelerometer hardware. Priced at only $4.99 in the Apple iTunes Application Store, Pocket Dyno has a very intuitive and slick interface that allows you to measure:

estimated wheel horsepower
0 to 60 MPH time
60 foot, 330 foot, and 1000 foot times
eighth mile ET and trap speed
quarter mile ET and trap speed
max G forces, velocity and distance

Using pocket dyno you can practice and perfect your launching techniques by running consecutive 0-60 MPH sprints and saving the data on your iPhone for later evaluation. You can also test different modifications to your car and how they effect changes in horsepower and performance for your vehicle.

We haven’t had a chance to test out Pocket Dyno at the drag strip yet, but a real world comparison was done with the results posted HERE.
