New King of Nürburgring – Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 RS

November 26th, 2024

Tonight, we ride along with Top Gear Magazine Associate Editor Tom Ford as he puts the screws to the latest Porsche sensation. Sure, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is capable enough in stock trim. Question is: Can it break the seven-minute trek around Nürburgring? If the answer is no, then you might consider sending the car out to Manthey (pronounced Man-Tie) where they will hook you up with everything you need to tame the course that legendary race driver Jackie Stewart called the Green Hell.

The first impression of the Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the accumulation of aerodynamic effects. The front splitter is much larger, as are the canards and you can’t ignore that dorsal fin and massive rear wing. This thing is meant to stick to the pavement like glue. This is not an out of the box body appearance kit. Every component is fully functional, and every car is custom tailored to the driver’s needs.

Underneath, Manthey adds two-valve electronically controlled shocks on all four corners. Three distinctively different driving modes are available with the flick of a knob on the steering wheel. Working our way to the rear of the car, there is a custom engineered dual plane diffuser to offset the giant wing up top. The wheels are made of magnesium and sold as part of the Porsche Weissach package. Of course, the brakes are competition quality with steel braided lines, vented rotors and track pads.

Despite not making any more power than the stock Porsche 911 GT3 RS, computer generated models indicate that the Manthey version could crush the current Nürburgring record lap time by an estimated eight-seconds.

While the Manthey package is not for the faint of heart, there’s a price to be paid for perfection.
