New 2009 Cadillac CTS-V on the Dyno

December 26th, 2008

The new 2009 Cadillac CTS-Vs are starting to arrive at dealers throughout the US and quite a few have already been delivered. The new Cadillac CTS-V is equipped with 6.2L supercharged V8 engine borrowed from the ZR1 putting out 556HP according to GM. One owner has already put his CTS-V on the dyno where it put down 438HP and 440 ft lbs of torque down to the rear wheels. It’s not clear if this was a manual or automatic transmission car, but if we go with a 16% driveline loss, we arrive at 522HP, a little shy of GM’s claims. The same owner also put a mild tune on the car using an EFILive and picked up a few horsepower, putting down 475HP and 478 ft lbs of torque.

The new CTS-V is an amazing bargain starting at only $60k and will clearly be aiming at the high end AMG and M super sedans that are priced in the $90k range. Even with the massive amounts of power, it’s hefty curb weight of 4200+ pounds will keep it’s performance numbers inline with it’s competition. However, don’t forget the CTS-Vs motor is capable of pushing 700HP+, just like a couple of Corvette ZR1 dyno results we’ve seen so far. We hope to have some real world 2009 CTS-V 1/4 mile times and trap speeds soon, but in the meantime, take a look at the dyno graphs below.
