NA Vette Crushes Half-Mile World Record

December 28th, 2016

Hello race fans and welcome to the WannaGoFast Texas 1/2-Mile Runway Shootout. Making this contest of top speed even more enjoyable for spectators this weekend is the presence of Eddie Blackwell’s 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Eddie has come all the way from Huntsville, Alabama with the sole purpose of popping out a new world record top speed for an all-motor car in the 1/2-mile.

Eddie makes consistent passes in the 180 mph range all weekend before destroying the 1/2-Mile (Naturally Aspirated) World Record on Sunday afternoon with a best top speed of 186.8771 mph.

The Blackwell C5 Z06 is powered by a brand new Vengeance Racing built 451 LSX engine with a full roller valve train and Mast cylinder heads. A close ratio, sequentially shifted, 6-speed, manual transmission by PPG allows Eddie to blow through the 1/2-mile at a break-neck pace.

This car has posted top speed runs in the 170 mph range before but it is great to see that this new Vengeance Racing LSX engine has propelled Eddie and his Chevy to such lofty heights. Great job guys!
