McMurtry Spéirling Posts Fastest Factory Quarter-Mile

In today’s world of ultra-quick hypercars and EVs, the McMurtry Spéirling stands head and shoulders above the rest. As the car that claimed the record of fastest car to complete the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb, the McMurtry Spéirling beat an F1 race car by 2-seconds. So, what makes this rear-wheel drive, single-seater so darn fast? It all begins with a specially designed fan system that generates approximately 2,000kg of downforce. The fans actually create a vacuum that makes the car stick to the surface like glue. Talk about taking curves on a rail.

Propulsion for the McMurtry Spéirling comes from a pair of electric motors that generate the equivalent of 1,000hp. At a curb weight of less than 2,000-pounds, the McMurtry Spéirling not only delivers eye-popping acceleration, it also features an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio.

Now it’s time for Matt to climb on board and see what makes the McMurtry Spéirling tick.

The first pass of the day leaves Matt with a stunned look of disbelief. When he recovers, the McMurtry Spéirling handlers inform him that the power was turned up just over halfway. Wow!

With the power level maxed, Matt proceeds to post a quarter-mile record of 7.97-seconds and a 0 to 60 mph time of 1.4-seconds. That’s incredibly fast in any language.
